An extensive and well-documented single-owner archive belonging to William Blyth Duncan of the 18th Whitley Bay (Cullercoats Methodist) Group, Northumberland. The collection is anchored by an official Boy Scouts Association Warrant dated 7th February 1967, appointing Duncan as a Scouter, signed by Chief Scout Charles Maclean. The archive includes a hardcover copy of The Gilwell Book featuring multiple contemporary signatures to the flyleaf, a commemorative 1964 Chief Scout’s visit pennant for Haddo House, and a leather woggle from the XIth World Jamboree Marathon 1963. Uniform accoutrements comprise a brown leather three-tassel sporran, two leather belts with fleur-de-lis buckles, various neckerchiefs, and green shoulder epaulettes. The insignia collection features over 30 embroidered patches including regional titles for Whitley Bay, Border, and Caernarvon, alongside merit badges and rank stars. A notable inclusion is a silver Clan Duncan kilt pin/brooch with the motto “DISCE PATI, ” bearing Edinburgh hallmarks for 1961 and the maker’s mark “JF” for James Fenton. The lot is completed by two nickel-plated whistles, including a “Metropolitan” model marked “THE SCOUT, ” and a boxed silver-plated souvenir spoon.
