This archival lot consists of a substantial collection of over 50 vintage theatre programmes and related ephemera, primarily documenting the history of the Theatre Royal in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and other North East venues. Key items identified within the collection include a programme for Mary Rose dated 3rd October 1927, the Farewell of Sir Frank Benson in The Importance of Being Earnest, and a D’Oyly Carte Opera Co. programme. Also included are Ballet Rambert’s Don Quixote from 20th August 1962, Lido Lady at the Plaza, Tynemouth, and early 20th-century programmes for the Tynemouth Palace. The collection features several mid-century Playbill branded programmes for the Theatre Royal. This lot is a long-held private collection and does not include a certificate of authenticity or formal documentation of provenance.
