A First World War period trench art vase constructed from a repurposed brass artillery shell casing. The cylindrical body features hand-stippled and punched-dot decorative motifs including floral and swirling patterns, with the word VERDUN inscribed near the base. The top rim has been flared and scalloped into an irregular wavy form. The underside of the shell displays a central primer hole and stamped markings including HL and 110 % 09.
