A Type 6 miner’s safety lamp manufactured by The Protector Lamp & Lighting Co. Ltd, Eccles. The lamp is constructed primarily of brass with a cylindrical glass chimney and internal burner components. The upper brass bonnet features an embossed manufacturer’s plaque identifying it as a Type 6 M & Q Safety Lamps Approval No B/28. A stamped identification number 847 is visible on the upper rim of the base. The design includes a top hanging loop and a side locking mechanism.
