An English Victorian Gothic Revival desktop set comprising a domed-lid stationery box and a matching folder, both constructed from fine burr walnut veneer. The set is heavily ornamented with elaborate engraved brass strapping featuring repeating foliate patterns and accented with raised domed studs. Each piece is centred with a shield-shaped bone inlay secured by brass pins. The box retains its original key and opens to reveal a blue moiré silk lining to the interior of the lid and a white paper-lined base. The matching folder features a plain white paper-lined interior. This set exemplifies the mid-to-late 19th-century taste for medieval-inspired metalwork combined with high-quality cabinet woods. Circa 1870. Box: 23cm x 11cm x 15cm. Folder: 30cm x 23cm.
