Produced by the renowned Spanish manufacturer Lladro, this matte porcelain figurine, model number 2402, is titled Africa. The sculpture depicts a standing African woman in a poised stance, balancing a vessel decorated with geometric patterns on her head while holding a smaller jug in her left hand. The figure is elegantly styled with a pink and blue patterned garment and a white textured shawl, further enhanced by detailed molded jewellery. The base features the authentic blue Lladro factory stamp, which includes the text HAND MADE IN SPAIN and © DAISA 1998, along with the impressed model number 2402 and various artisan identification marks. This piece is a notable example of Lladro’s ethnographic artistry, utilising a gres finish to achieve its distinctive earthy texture and colour palette.
