This unbranded Art Deco novelty evening bag features a distinctive tennis-themed design, serving as a classic example of interwar period sporting fashion. The body is crafted from a black fabric, likely a crepe or wool blend, decorated with vibrant multi-coloured floral crewel-style embroidery in shades of red, green, blue, and tan. The frame and handle are composed of marbled grey and brown celluloid, with the handle uniquely moulded into the shape of a tennis racket resting upon a tennis ball. The interior frame is stamped with the British Registered Design number REGD. 741142, which dates the design to approximately 1928-1929. The bag features a brass-tone metal thumb-latch clasp and a red fabric lining. No dust bag or box is included. Dimensions not provided.
