This brass ship engine order telegraph features a dual-sided dial housed within a polished brass body. The dial face is printed with the manufacturer name Chadburns Liverpool and London and displays standard maritime commands in white and red coloured text against a black background. Commands include Stop, Full, Half, Slow, and Dead Slow for both Ahead and Astern operations, alongside Standby Engine and Finish With Engine. The unit is mounted on a tapered brass pedestal base with four circular mounting holes. Two manual control handles are positioned on either side of the head, with the right-side handle featuring a directional indicator pointer. The interior of the hollow base contains electrical wiring.
