A taxidermy head mount or mask of a Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes) presented in a snarling pose with an open mouth. The specimen features painted internal composition detailing and inset amber-coloured glass eyes. The mount is fixed to a dark-stained, shield-shaped wooden plaque. The front of the plaque is inscribed in white painted characters WEST STREET HUNT 26-2-35. The reverse of the plaque retains a distressed paper trade label for F. W. BARTLETT, TAXIDERMIST, 23, HIGH STREET, BANBURY. The label includes advertising text for skins dressed and hunting trophies set up in natural and artistic styles. A modern metal hanging bracket has been added to the reverse.
