This garden ornament is a reconstituted stone figure of a recumbent lion, produced in the Medici style. The lion is depicted in a couchant position on an integral rectangular base with its front paws extended and its head turned slightly to the right. The piece features a heavily carved mane and a closed mouth. The surface shows evidence of casting and subsequent finishing to the details of the fur and facial features. No maker marks, factory stamps, or signatures are present on the base or body of the item.
