A mid-century modern hand-blown art glass vase in a translucent blue colour. The vessel features a hooped or waisted body with bulbous tiers, tapering into a wide, straight cylindrical neck with a polished rim. This form is identified as model number 1472, designed by Tamara Aladin for the Finnish glassworks Riihimaki (Riihimaen Lasi Oy) circa 1960. The base exhibits a ground pontil mark and is incised with characters transcribed as HOLMEGAARD, accompanied by further faint illegible characters and a numeric code. This style of Scandinavian glass was widely imported and sold in the United Kingdom during the 1960s and 1970s.
