A two-piece interlocking sterling silver nurse’s belt buckle manufactured by Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders and James Francis Hollings Shepherd. The buckle features an ornate Art Nouveau openwork design, with each section displaying a central heart-shaped shield flanked by two figures of putti amidst scrolling foliage, floral motifs, and decorative C-scrolls. The two sections connect via a hook and loop mechanism and include horizontal bars on the reverse for belt attachment. The item is marked with the maker’s mark CS*FS and carries British hallmarks including the lion passant for sterling silver and the date letter M.
