Buyer's Premium:

A British Pattern 1913 sword bayonet manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company under contract for the British government to accompany the Pattern 1914 rifle. The item features a long, single-edged steel blade with a deep fuller on both sides. The hilt is constructed with a steel crossguard incorporating a muzzle ring and a bird’s-head pommel with a functional attachment slot and press-stud. The two-piece contoured wooden grip scales are notable for the two horizontal grooves designed to distinguish the pattern from the British P1907 in low light. The scales are secured to the tang by two screw bolts. The accompanying scabbard is made of dark leather with a steel throat and a rounded steel chape, retaining its round frog stud. The obverse ricasso is stamped with the model designation 1913 above the manufacture date 10 — 16 and the letter W for Winchester. The reverse ricasso displays British military acceptance and proof marks including a Broad Arrow government ownership mark, crossed pennants, and inspection stamps consisting of a crown over alphanumeric codes A 3 and W A.
