A large-scale figurative wood carving of Southeast Asian origin, depicting a human hand in an open, cradling gesture holding a seated baby elephant within its palm. The elephant is rendered with detailed, textured skin and features two small, inset tusks of a contrasting light-coloured material, likely bone or a dense composite. The entire piece is carved from a dark brown stained hardwood and is mounted on an integral, naturalistic, irregular-form wooden base. The wrist section of the hand features incised characters in Thai script, representing an artist signature.
