A circular hinged locket pendant of British origin, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The construction features 9 carat gold front and back plates applied over a base metal internal frame and hinge for added durability. Both the front and back covers are decorated with hand-engraved foliate scrollwork and delicate stippled detailing along the borders. The locket is fitted with a simple circular jump ring for suspension from a chain. The side edge of the locket is stamped with the characters 9CT BACK & FRONT.
Approximately 25mm in diameter.
