A mid-19th-century tinted lithograph by John Storey, titled Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the Reign of Queen Elizabeth. The work provides a reconstructed historical panorama of the city as it appeared in 1604. The composition depicts the River Tyne populated with multiple sailing vessels and the Old Tyne Bridge lined with residential buildings. Key architectural features include the castle keep and the prominent spire of St Nicholas’ Church, now the Cathedral. The foreground shows figures on a grassy embankment overlooking the river. The print is inscribed John Storey Delt. et. Pinxt. to the lower left and Stead, Lith. York. to the lower right. The technique uses tinted colours including ochre, blue, and green over a detailed lithographic base. The piece is professionally presented in a dark wood frame with a gold-toned inner slip and a pale patterned mount.
