This collection consists of five professionally framed sets of cigarette and collector cards, primarily issued by W.D. and H.O. Wills and John Player and Sons. The first set is a Wills’s Cigarettes Military Aircraft series comprising 25 cards arranged in a 5×5 grid. The cards depict various British military aircraft including the Supermarine Spitfire, Hawker Hurricane, Gloster Gladiator, and Bristol Blenheim, presented in a dark mount with gilt lettering and a wooden frame with a gilt inner slip. The second set is a complete series of 50 John Player and Sons Cricketers 1938 cards, split across two matching wooden frames with maroon mounts. This set features prominent cricketers of the era, including Donald Bradman (No. 38) and W.A. Brown (No. 39). The third set is a Player’s Cigarettes Dogs Heads series after paintings by Arthur Wardle, containing 24 cards in a 4×6 grid within a wooden frame. Breeds shown include the Bulldog, Irish Setter, Bloodhound, and Greyhound; a label on the reverse attributes this set to 1929. The final set is a modern commemorative series by Golden Era titled The Sports Car 1962-1969, focusing on the Shelby Cobra. It includes a central title card and six model cards: Cobra 260 (MkI), Cobra 289 (MkII), Daytona Coupe, AC 289 (MkIII), 427 (MkIII), and 427 S/C (MkIII). This set is housed in a green mount and wooden frame with technical specifications and a checklist printed on the reverse.
