A hand-knotted Persian village rug, attributed to the Hamadan region of Northwest Persia. The rug is constructed with a wool pile on a cotton foundation. The design features a central stepped geometric medallion in shades of red, dark blue, and ivory, positioned against an ivory field. The field is densely populated with stylised botanical and floral motifs in a geometric Herati-influenced style. The composition is framed by four stepped spandrels and a multi-banded border. The primary border has a dark ground decorated with repeating geometric floral head motifs.
Dimensions: Approximately 150 cm x 100 cm.
