The larger work depicts three kittens, including one ginger and two tabby varieties, resting amongst straw beside a wicker basket. The smaller companion piece illustrates a group of three foxhounds within a kennel or stable interior. Both works are housed in ornate gilt gesso frames. The larger painting is set in a broad fluted frame featuring acanthus leaf corner motifs and a beaded inner slip. The smaller painting is presented in a heavy Rococo-style scrolling gilt frame. Both items retain a paper label on the verso for Carvers & Gilders Picture Makers & Restorers England. No signatures or inscriptions are visible on the front of either work.
