A mid-century modern earthenware vase produced by Scheurich Keramik, West Germany. The vessel features the characteristic model 520 form, comprising a conical lower body tapering to a cinched neck and a flared, wide rim. The exterior decoration consists of a mottled or sponged blue and grey ground, over-painted with a hand-applied design featuring bold black interlaced scrolling lines enclosing yellow circular motifs. Further ornamentation includes stylised blue floral sections with radiating black strokes. The interior is finished with a dark brown to black glaze. The unglazed base shows impressed markings, including the model number 520, which is characteristic of this manufacturer.
