This pair of practice fencing sabres 20th century. These weapons were manufactured for military fencing instruction and training rather than active combat. Each sabre features a flat steel blade with a rounded, blunt tip and no sharpened edges. The hilts are fitted with D-shaped brass knuckle guards decorated with pierced openwork, including quatrefoil motifs and a diamond lattice pattern. A recurved quillon extends from each guard toward the blade. The grips are constructed from ribbed wood with a dark brown finish, tapered for handling. The blades are secured via the tang with stepped brass pommels and hexagonal nuts. Faint circular impressions are visible on the ricasso of the blades, though they are obscured by oxidation makers mark Peerage Made in England
