A wheel-thrown and hand-painted lustreware vase by the British studio potter Alvin F. Irving of Lancaster Pottery. The vessel features a globular body tapering to a short, narrow cylindrical neck. The exterior is decorated with hand-painted fruit and foliate motifs, including berries and leaves, rendered in a polychrome palette of blues, greens, and purples over an iridescent lustre ground. A broad cream-coloured band encircles the shoulder, defined by gold-toned borders. The neck is finished in a deep, iridescent purple-blue glaze. The base is hand-marked in black ink Alvin F. Irving and Lancaster Pottery, and retains a gold foil label which reads Thrown & Hand Painted Lustreware by Alvin F. Irving.
