This large stoneware studio pottery vase features a bulbous shouldered form with a tapering lower body and a flat base, finished with a short, flared rim. The vessel is constructed from a heavy, coarse-textured clay body, exhibiting prominent horizontal throwing lines and an intentional pitted or cratered surface. The exterior is decorated with hand-modelled appliqué elements, including a central rose motif surrounded by five pointed leaves. This floral element is set against a recessed rectangular panel finished with a turquoise-green slip. A raised, undulating vine in a dark brown clay body encircles the shoulder of the vase. The piece is finished with a blue-grey wash that settles into the textured surface to provide contrast. The base of the vessel is covered in a thick, matte black coating, and no maker marks or signatures are visible.
