A Chinese glazed earthenware figure of a Buddhist lion, or Foo Dog, likely dating from the early to mid-20th century. The male lion is modelled in a seated posture with its right forepaw resting on a brocade ball. The figure is positioned on a rectangular plinth base featuring moulded geometric and scroll decoration. It is finished in a vibrant, deep green lead-type glaze that pools in the recesses to highlight the moulded details of the mane, harness, and facial features. The pooling glaze exhibits a slight iridescent or oil-spot effect in some areas, particularly on the plinth surface. The unglazed buff-coloured base contains an oval aperture and an indistinct red mark.
