A Victorian writing slope constructed from a dark, figured wood, possibly coromandel. The lid is set with a prominent brass cross-shaped mount featuring an integrated keyhole. The interior is divided into multiple compartments, including a pen tray and sections for stationery. It contains two glass inkwells with circular brass lids. The foldable writing surface is upholstered in a deep purple velvet, decorated with a gold-toned Greek key border and fleur-de-lis corner motifs. The interior also features ornamental brass escutcheons to the small storage sections.
