This mid-20th-century Italian reproduction sculpture is cast in a matte, grey-toned composite material such as bonded stone or resin. The bust-length figure is rendered in a Classical style, depicting a young woman with a serene expression and an elaborate coiffure consisting of braided sections coiled and gathered at the nape of the neck. The sculpture is mounted on an integrated, tiered circular socle base. Visual evidence of the casting process includes small pinhole air bubbles visible on the neck and chest, as well as a faint mould seam running vertically through the hair at the reverse. An accompanying tag identifies the piece as a half-length sculpture of Proserpina.
