Monday 11th May - Antiques, Jewellery, Militaria, Coins, Comics Vinyl, Toys, Ceramics, Collectables
A collection of approximately 80 postcards documenting the urban and industrial history of Newcastle upon Tyne and the surrounding Tyneside area. The assembly includes a significant series of black-and-white reproductions of early 20th-century views, most notably a chronological record of the Tyne Bridge construction featuring cards No. 120 (dated 13.1.28) and No. 203 (dated 27.4.28). Other historical subjects include Grey’s Monument, city centre streetscapes with period trams and automobiles, and maritime scenes on the River Tyne featuring the RMS Mauretania. These are complemented by approximately twelve original colour topographical postcards from circa 1980, which depict the early years of the Tyne and Wear Metro system, including the original yellow and white rolling stock, station interiors, and the Queen Elizabeth II Metro bridge. The collection is housed in a modern slip-in album with a handwritten contents label to the front. Album 16.5cm x 22cm.
