This pair of decorative wall-mounted masks is cast from painted chalkware. The first mask depicts a woman with voluminous dark hair accented with grey highlights and red lips. The second mask shows a smiling woman wearing a red headscarf with white polka dots and a red and white striped neckerchief over a green bodice. Both masks are polychrome painted with a matte finish. The reverse of each piece is painted black and contains a recessed hollow for weight reduction, with a metal wire hanging loop embedded into the material. These items are characteristic of mid-20th-century wall art, resembling designs by European makers such as Sarem or Goldscheider. No maker marks, signatures, or model numbers are present.
