A mid-20th century diamond solitaire ring featuring an illusion setting. The central round brilliant-cut diamond is mounted in a platinum scalloped starburst-style head, designed to give the appearance of a larger stone. The setting is supported by tapered shoulders with geometric openwork filigree details, merging into an 18 carat yellow gold shank. The interior of the band is stamped with the maker’s mark C.P.S, a crown gold hallmark, 18, ct, and PLAT.
