A cast lead fire insurance mark produced in the style of the 18th-century Sun Fire Office. The plaque features the company’s Sun in Splendour emblem, depicting a human face within a solar disc surrounded by sixteen rays of alternating straight and wavy forms. Below the emblem is a raised rectangular panel containing the cast policy number 425573. The top of the plaque is shaped into a small lug with a single suspension hole for mounting. This item is a later casting of a historical design, as evidenced by the specific policy number which is frequently found on contemporary reproductions.
