A Limoges porcelain tripod trinket box of bulbous form, supported by three curved feet with gilded terminals. The detachable, slightly domed lid is decorated with a transfer-printed romantic scene in the Fragonard style, depicting a couple in 18th-century dress within a pastoral landscape. The scene is framed by a gilded rim. The body of the box features a decorative band of gilded foliate scrolls around the shoulder. The base bears a gold circular stamp containing the words LIMOGES and MADE IN FRANCE surrounding a central shield device with a stylized letter J. The word FRANCE is also stamped twice in black ink. This item is a mid-20th-century production from the Limoges region of France.
