This decorative sculpture depicts an African mother holding a young child, rendered in a style consistent with the Amwisha figurine from the Soul Journeys collection. The piece is crafted from cast resin or a similar composite material, finished with a dark bronze-effect patina to simulate aged metal. The woman is shown in traditional attire, featuring an elaborate, tiered circular collar, large circular disc earrings, and a draped robe with a geometric border pattern at the cuff. The child is cradled in her arms, also wrapped in draped cloth. The figures are set upon an integral, irregular base with a textured, rocky finish. No signatures, maker marks, or foundry stamps are visible on the exterior of the piece. The interior construction is revealed to be a light-coloured composite material by a chip on the reverse.
