A Moorcroft pottery vase in the Western Isles pattern, designed by Sian Leeper. This earthenware vase is of a tall, slender form with a bulbous upper body, a short everted rim, and a flared circular foot. The exterior is decorated using the tube-lining technique, featuring raised slip outlines defining a stylized design of autumnal foliage or trees. The decoration is hand-painted in a palette of mustard yellow, sage green, deep burgundy, and charcoal grey glazes, set against a dark, graded background. The interior of the vase is finished with a dark glaze. The base features several impressed factory marks including MOORCROFT, MADE IN STOKEONTRENT, and ENGLAND, along with a registered trademark symbol. Hand-painted inscriptions include a circled L, the copyright symbol followed by 2006, and a small red dot. Impressed ciphers of a bell and a small pitcher are also visible.
