An attributed Wade Royal Victoria Pottery ceramic spirit barrel, designed for dispensing sherry. The vessel is constructed from glazed earthenware and features a traditional barrel form with horizontal ribbing. The decoration consists of alternating bands of deep burgundy and white glaze, accented by gilt line borders. Centrally located is a large transfer-printed scrolled cartouche in white, containing the word SHERRY in gilt block lettering. The cartouche is further embellished with stylised foliate and floral motifs. The lower portion of the barrel is fitted with a turned wooden spigot tap set into a metal collar with visible sealant.
