A collection of eleven pieces of English advertising stoneware, primarily from the North East of England and Cumbria. The assortment includes a large two-tone salt-glazed handled jug for Fentimans Direct Supply Co. Ltd., dated 1941, featuring a circular transfer-printed dog head logo and text for their Gateshead factory. The lot features five cream-coloured jars of varying sizes for Numol Tonic and Nervine Lecithin Food and two jars for Virol Bone Marrow. Also included is a cream-coloured jar for Carricks Cumberland Dairy Co. Ltd. of Low Row near Carlisle for Pure Thick Fresh Cream. Two slender two-tone bottles complete the collection: one for Carr Bros and Carr of North Shields with a lighthouse graphic, and one for Wood, Sons and Co. of Consett and Newcastle for Hector Ginger beer. Each piece is made of glazed stoneware with blue or black transfer-printed branding.
