Two antique shell cameo brooches featuring classical female profile motifs. The larger brooch consists of an oval shell cameo depicting a right-facing classical female bust with elaborate hair and draped garments. It is set within a scalloped yellow metal frame featuring an inner rope-twist border. The reverse is fitted with a horizontal pin and C-clasp mechanism. The smaller brooch features an oval shell cameo depicting a right-facing classical female bust with hair in an updo. It is set in a simple oval yellow metal frame with a rope-twist border and is also fitted with a horizontal pin and C-clasp. No hallmarks or maker’s marks are present on either item. The metal appears consistent with gold-cased or gold-filled material common in late 19th to early 20th-century jewellery.
