A circular earthenware bowl manufactured by Shorter and Son in Stoke-on-Trent, England. The bowl is designed with a deep, tapering form and is decorated with three horizontal incised bands around the lower exterior. The surface is covered in a mottled, sponged glaze that incorporates mid-blue and brownish-grey tones throughout the interior and exterior. The underside is marked with impressed text reading SHORTER ENGLAND and the model number 235 NO 2. A blue underglaze printed mark states SHORTER AND SON, STOKE-ON-TRENT, ENGLAND. Three kiln stilt marks are present on the base.
