A complete uncirculated eight-coin set issued by the Royal Mint for the year 1983. This specific edition is the Martini promotional issue, containing the eight circulating denominations of the period. The set is presented in its original blue gatefold folder depicting the Tower of London and is accompanied by the designs and specifications leaflet. Included is the original Martini promotional insert card transcribed: with the compliments of MARTINI Martini Coin Collection Offer, Box No. 577, Hendon Road, Sunderland SR9 9XZ. All coins feature the obverse portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Arnold Machin. Reverse designs consist of the Royal Coat of Arms (£1, designed by Eric Sewell), Britannia (50p), crowned double rose (20p, designed by William Gardner), crowned lion passant guardant (10p), crowned thistle (5p), Prince of Wales’s feathers (2p), portcullis (1p), and the Royal Crown (1/2p). The 50p, 10p, 5p, 2p, 1p, and 1/2p reverses are the work of Christopher Ironside.
