A vintage folding wooden chess set designed for travel, comprising a set of thirty-two chess pieces. The pieces are carved in the Staunton style, with sixteen finished in a light natural wood and sixteen in a dark-stained wood. Each piece is weighted and finished with green felt to the base. The folding board is constructed from wood with alternating light and dark wood veneers forming the playing surface, surrounded by a decorative border. The board is hinged and serves as a storage case, secured by a single brass-toned metal latch. The interior is lined with red velveteen and features individual elasticated loops to secure the pieces. No manufacturer’s marks or labels are visible on the item.
