A mid-20th century decorative chalkware figurine depicting a young boy and an Alsatian dog in a companionable pose. The boy is depicted wearing a green beret, a tan button-down shirt with a brown belt, and green trousers, with his right arm resting over the dog’s neck. The dog is shown in a recumbent position with its head turned and tongue protruding. The group is set on a textured base painted with patches of green to simulate natural ground. The item is made of painted plaster with a glossy finish. On the reverse of the base, there is an impressed rectangular mark reading MADE IN ENGLAND and an incised registration mark RD 852020. This British Registered Design number indicates a registration date of 1947.
