Buyer's Premium:

A late 19th-century work table of oval form, featuring an ebonised finish with decorative line-work and burr wood veneer insets. The hinged top is embellished with a central foliate medallion within a line-work border, surrounded by a broad band of figured burr wood and an outer line-work margin. The interior is fitted with a series of small perimeter compartments. The central section contains three removable lids with intricate fretwork carving, the largest of which conceals a deep well lined with blue-patterned paper. The table is raised on four turned, reeded, and tapering legs, joined by a shaped X-stretcher with a central starburst motif. The legs terminate in brass-capped casters. A small barrel key is present.
