A contemporary animalier sculpture depicting a seated moon-gazing hare with its head tilted upwards and its long ears laid back. The body is finished with a heavily textured surface in variegated earthy brown tones, designed to simulate a rustic hand-carved clay or wood original. The ears are finished with a contrasting smooth dark bronze-effect patina, and the piece is set with realistic inset amber-coloured eyes. The underside of the sculpture bears the impressed manufacturer mark FRITH. Additional incised markings are present but not clearly legible, though the style and manufacturer indicate this is a design by the artist Paul Jenkins.
