An assortment of lithographed tinplate advertising and commemorative containers, primarily of British origin and dating from the late 19th to the mid-20th century. The collection features a Queen Victoria South Africa 1900 commemorative Boer War chocolate tin, featuring a red ground with a central embossed portrait of the Queen, the VR royal cypher, and a facsimile handwritten message reading I wish you a happy New Year, Victoria R.I. Also included is a large, square-tapered Radiance Devon Cream Toffee tin decorated with pastoral scenes of a dairymaid and cattle, and a large rectangular red Oxo cube tin marked with There is nothing like OXO and Store in a cool dry place. A slim silver-toned rectangular tin commemorates the 1910-1935 Silver Jubilee of King George V and Queen Mary, decorated with portraits flanked by the Royal Standard and Union Jack. The group further comprises several pocket tobacco tins, including Ogden’s St. Julien Tobacco in blue, Golden Virginia Hand Rolling Tobacco in green, Player’s Sun Valley Light Tobacco in light green, Wills’s Cut Golden Bar in yellow and brown, and Lloyds Old Holborn Blended Virginia featuring an illustration of Staple Inn.
