This collection of late 19th to early 20th-century semi-porcelain tableware consists of four pieces manufactured by J.H. Weatherby and Sons in Hanley, England. The assortment includes three graduated oval meat platters and one lidded cheese dish. Each platter is decorated with an underglaze flow-blue transfer-printed border featuring intricate scrolls, floral bouquets, and lace-like patterns. The rectangular cheese dish features a slanted cover and an ornate scroll-molded handle; it is decorated with blue floral sprigs and hand-applied gold sponge-gilding over a fluted body. All pieces bear a printed underglaze factory mark depicting a flag with a saltire cross containing the word DURABILITY, positioned above the text J.H.W. and SONS / HANLEY / ENGLAND / — / SEMIPORCELAIN. The inclusion of ENGLAND in the mark indicates a manufacture date from approximately 1892 onwards.
