Monday 6th July - Antiques, Jewellery, Militaria, Coins, Vinyl, Toys, Ceramics, Collectables
A collection of natural history specimens comprising several large individual seashells and a large quantity of small specimens. The lot includes a large abalone shell (Haliotis sp.) with a highly iridescent nacreous interior displaying vibrant pink, green, and blue tones, and a naturally textured exterior with characteristic respiratory pores along the margin. Also present is a large white murex shell (likely Chicoreus ramosus) featuring prominent branched spines and fronds. A large tun shell (Tonna sp.) of globose form is included, showing distinct horizontal ribbing and bands of cream and light tan. One additional weathered shell of similar proportions is also present. An inner box contains a large quantity of small cowrie shells, likely Monetaria annulus (Gold Ring Cowrie) or Monetaria moneta (Money Cowrie), which are yellowish-tan in colour with smooth, polished dorsal surfaces and characteristic slit apertures. The collection is unmounted and no locality or provenance labels are present.
