An English George III mahogany tea caddy of rectangular form, featuring a stepped ogee lid topped with a brass swan-neck handle on circular backplates. The front is set with a decorative brass batwing-style escutcheon. The interior opens on brass butt hinges to reveal three compartments lined with metallic foil, intended for the storage and preservation of tea. The box is finished with a moulded base. No maker’s marks or signatures are present.
