A landscape watercolour painting with gouache highlights on paper by the British artist Victor Noble Rainbird (1888-1936). The scene depicts a riverside cottage with a white facade and red-tiled roof situated among trees on the bank of a river. The work is executed in a loose and atmospheric style characteristic of the early 20th-century British school. It is signed in the lower left VICTOR NOBLE RAINBIRD and titled in the lower right ‘ON THE TWEED’. The painting is presented in a beige mount and a light-toned wooden frame with horizontal ribbing, under glass.
