Buyer's Premium:

An assortment of 20th-century British ceramics comprising both factory-produced and studio pottery items. The collection includes a Hollinshead and Kirkham (H&K) Tunstall earthenware vase of flared trumpet form on a spreading circular foot. It is hand-painted in the Amadora pattern featuring vibrant floral borders in red, yellow, and blue against a cream ground, with a wide orange-red band to the top rim. The base of the vase bears a green printed mark with a lion rampant device and the text MADE IN ENGLAND / H&K / TUNSTALL, the pattern name AMADORA in gilt, and a hand-painted number 1530. An old collector label for S. T. SWADDLE, Whitley Bay, is also present on the base. The lot also features a pair of glazed earthenware gurgle fish jugs, each modelled as a leaping fish with an open-mouthed spout and tail-form handle. These jugs are finished with mottled blue-grey, green, and cream glazes over a moulded scale texture, with brown accents to the base and fins. A York Rose Pottery studio beaker of slightly tapering cylindrical form is included, decorated with horizontal bands in shades of grey and dark brown. The unglazed red clay base of the beaker is impressed with a circular YORK ROSE POTTERY stamp. Completing the assortment is an unmarked hand-formed earthenware dish of teardrop shape, featuring a buff ground and a central abstract design in a glossy dark brown glaze.
