A complete set of vintage Soviet Russian prismatic binoculars, model BPC 12×40, manufactured at the Zagorsk Optical-Mechanical Plant (ZOMZ). The instrument features a metal body with a black finish and a textured black leatherette-style grip. It is designed with central focusing adjustment and a right-eye diopter adjustment ring. The lenses exhibit a visible blue-violet anti-reflective coating.
The left prism plate is marked with the Cyrillic characters БПЦ followed by 12×40 and the English text MADE IN USSR. It also bears the manufacturer logo of the Zagorsk Optical-Mechanical Plant, consisting of a stylised wing or lens shape within a semi-circle. The central bridge spindle cap is stamped with the serial number N7314893.
The set is accompanied by two bilingual instruction and guarantee booklets, titled in Cyrillic ПАСПОРТ and translated as PRISMATIC BINOCULAR WITH CENTRAL FOCUSING CERTIFICATE. Both booklets identify the model as БПЦ-12X40 and contain the handwritten serial number 7314893, matching the binoculars. Included ephemera consists of a yellow compliments slip from the UK distributor, Optima Leisure Products, 75 Foxley Lane, Purley, Surrey, CR2 3HP.
The binoculars are housed in a hard-sided black leather-style carrying case featuring a metal clasp and shoulder strap. The original tan-coloured cardboard outer box is present, printed with the text PRISMATIC BINOCULARS, CENTRAL FOCUSING ADJUSTMENT, and 12×40 within an oval.
