This artwork is a three-dimensional mixed-media construction by the American artist Charles Fazzino, titled Schmaltzy Shmatten’s To… New York Bobkes. The piece is a multi-layered serigraph depicting a vibrant and detailed New York City streetscape with a specific focus on Jewish cultural life. The composition features a street scene filled with figures in traditional attire, kosher businesses such as Goodman’s Catering Hall, Sham-Tov Dairy Restaurant, and Kosher Delight, as well as an ambulance and New York City taxis. The background showcases the Manhattan skyline, including the pre-2001 World Trade Center towers and the Empire State Building, with decorative hot air balloons and a blimp floating in the sky. The work is hand-embellished with glitter and small clear crystals applied to details such as the wheels of vehicles. It is hand-signed by the artist in silver-toned ink to the lower right margin and numbered 36/100PR to the lower left. The piece is housed in a contemporary silver-finished frame with a deep shadowbox-style black mount, accented with blue and gold inner borders.
